Embarrassing Bounty-Neiman’s Beauty Event

Ok-I’m not really talking about the stuff in the bag–the typical samples, Kiehls had their new moisturizer – Powerful Wrinkle Reducer, Fresh Soy Face Cleanser, Oribe Shampoo for Color etc. but I’m talking about me going overboard when I very well know I have WAAAAAYYYYYYYYAAAAAAYYYYYY too much stuff.

Color and otherwise.

I told the BF – I cant buy any more body lotion the other day.  I have Dr T’s Glycolic, Green Tea Moisturizer, Kiehl’s Orange Blossom. Laura Mercier’s Pistachio and the more pedestrian Johnson’s Baby Cream  – blah blah blah.

Luckily, there were no body lotions in the bag.

I did the presale with my friend last week and stocked up on Kiehl’s fav Rosa Artica and Biological Overnight Peel – I didn’t have to. but I bought a milk cleanser too.  (That was on the shopping list, tho Cetaphil is just as good).

Then the next day, I went with the BF to stock up on his Clinique Super Defense.  As my commission I charged him a mascara, so I could get the gift.

I need more stuff like a hole in the head.

So today, I’m tooling around with my bounty from the presale and loiter by Trish McEvoy.  The set was unbelievable! Eye basics, eye lift, creme foundation, new aubergine gel liner, shadow, lip gloss and mascara in their little binder kit! So cute – $150 for all, plus you get their gift, and the NM’s bag.

Limited Edition Resort Makeup Planner

Hmmmm-just went to NM.com to get the above pic and the gift is different.

So around the corner, I go to Laura Mercier – and the national makeup artist is there.  I’m just chilling out – and he asked if I was interested in anything.

Well–I’ve been thinking about the new eye shadow pallette-I can’t get it to copy but it’s the one with the blues, pink and purply brown.

Jeffrey did my whole face – I looked like me but brighter!

I got the LM lash curler – it’s one of those more compact ones – not like the squeezy ones like Shu’s.  Got tinted moisturizer compact and brow pencil.

Believe it or not – all stuff I did not have.

Oh BS – all stuff I did not have in SOME FORM.

Clinique-2 Week Challenge-Repairwear Laser Focus

I have to preface this with it took me 5 minutes to find the product on clinique’s website.  On the opening slides, it shows the product paired with Laser Focus Eye Cream, but when you click on it – it’s like something that’s just out of your reach but you can’t get to it.

So I went back to the top nav and scrolled to concern-it’s interesting because the marketing doesn’t really firmly categorize what this product is supposed to be under.  After three tries-radiance, uneven skin tone and de-aging I finally found it.

Kind of aggravating.

I’m tooling around Macy’s and a nice gentleman at the counter asked to help me, but then he said he didn’t know about the promotion so he deferred to a nicely dressed woman who turned out to the store manager at macy’s ww mall.  She didn’t know the promotion -but did say she had started using the product and felt it worked.

The Clinique consultant was very nice – basically they give you a 2 week supply of the Repairwear Laser Focus for the face which you apply am and pm, on the face and under the eyes.  Then 2 weeks later you report back and they give you the same sample to continue on.  In affect, you get a month of skincare free!

What I didn’t ask was-should I put my moisturizer over this product?  It’s a serum – so serums go next to the skin, then everything on top.  But it wasn’t clear if this product is moisturizing enough to go it alone.

It’s not a fair assessment over last night’s rest with the product because the BF SNORED all night and kept me up. So I don’t think it is fair to say I look more radiant or not this morning.

Stay tuned!

Hair Today!

It’s always a pleasure to chat with Lincoln Whang of BOSS Beauty Outlet Supply right off of Nimitz Highway – he’s so knowledgable about everything hair.

When I first met him  2 years + ago, I was using S-Factor and Bedhead primarily because I loved the way they smelled.  As time went on my hair was getting drier-especially when I started coloring.

Lincoln introduced me to Neuma’s family of organic hair care and Kitoko Oil. I fully credit the change and upgrade to organic products along with switching to vegetable protein glosses instead of color with my hair’s healthy reemergence!

Organic products cost a little more but the Neuma products are really concentrated so you spend less in the long run.  Plus, Lincoln gave me this tip today.  After you shampoo, take a moment and towel dry your hair a little bit and get some of the water out.  Then, squirt in conditioner and proceed as normal.  He explained that a totally wet sponge can’t soak any more water up, and much like the sponge, your hair has a harder time absorbing the conditioner and getting the extra benefits when it’s still soaking wet.  Plus you use less conditioner since it isn’t getting diluted.

Another tip from Lincoln was after you use product on your hair, take a moment to work it through with a clean brush.  Otherwise your product isn’t distributed evenly – and for products with vitamins – they don’t have a chance to get to your scalp where you will get their benefit.

I know I could put Kitoko Oil on my face – it smells really good so I would like it anyway.  He told my friend today that whether your skin is dry or oily, it helps to bring your skin to an even keel-kind of calms it down. Works great on your hair too!

Now Kitoko Oil is producing a spray for UV protection – called Sun Defence UV Protect Spray.  It has Pomegranate, Red Bush, Green Tea, Karite & UV Filters  and Vit A & E.  The BF’s hair is thinning plus he is blue-eyed so he has been addressing precancerous spots on his head, so I pounced on this product.

Seriously, when I stand behind someone with really-fried hair, I want to tap them on the shoulder and ask if they’ve tried glossing and organic product?

After all, your hair and you are worth it—hair is in the top 5 things people notice about you right off the bat.

Stayed tuned for a progress report on the BF’s using the Revivogen product for thinning hair.  Developed by a dermatologist, Revivogen is a natural shampoo, conditioner and scalp treatment that you spray on, easiest at bedtime, then shampoo out the next morning.  The system cleans the scalp of all the gunk and stimulates hair growth without unhappy side effects other products may have.

Hello Old Friend–Kiehl’s Powerful Strength Line Reducer aka Power Line

I know I know I know the real name of the product by Kiehl’s that is my go to and now my go back to vitamin C serum.

I skipped a bottle and wandered around a bit trying different samples of serums like Lancome’s Visionnaire, Perricone’s Cold Plasma etc etc.

But I just thought though they were only samples–they were lacking.

Even when I had a 7 day sample of Lancome’s Genefique-I got a better result.

My heart goes back to you Powerful C

On days I think I ‘m a little dull

I know that you’re the one for me

Oh you, Oh C, Oh Kiehls you’re the one

Why pay more for products that do less

For the brown spots caused by my days in the sun.

I call you Power Line-but I really know your name

I’ll always come back to you

Oh Kiehls Oh C – you’re the one

Flat No More!

Errrrr-maybe in my case, less wavy is more accurate.

In almost all things I am considered a laggard when people are put into marketing groups.

You know – there’s the people that stand in line at the Apple store to be the first to get the first next thing – Early Adapters.

Then there are people like me who is still using a 3GS–and I got that for 99 cents! Laggards.

So, it takes me a million years to get in the groove when it comes to gadgets.

So…………….I finally broke down and got a flat iron.

I have long admired my girlfriends who have similar Asian wavy hair that they tame into control with their flat irons.  One friend ballroom dances competitively and it is so cool when she flat irons her hair and then she slicks into a pony tail for competition.

Hillary J of the WInan Studio can blow my hair dry almost as straight-and then other times she finishes it off with a flat iron.

I finally broke down and got a flat iron the other day—and when my veggie gloss color allowed me to wash and dry my hair, tried out my new gadget.

I tried the tap tap tap technique Hillary J taught me – I did ok for the first time out.

But I definitely need more practice.

Either that or I need to go to one of those blow dry bars to have my hair blown out.
