Taming the Frizzies-Neuma NeuSmooth Illuminating Shine

You’d think with all of the oil based products there would be a lot more people walking around with oily stringy hair.

A problem we avoided as younger people-that being oily hair-so it’s ironic that we seek out oil as our older selves.

BOSS Beauty Supply often sells their products in trios–like the Neuma Shampoo, Conditioner and something usually a finish treatment as the third.

A typical cocktail trio

I changed up my moisture formula in the blue bottles with the volume formula in the orangy-rust colored bottles-and it turns out they work great.

Since the big M, my hair had gotten extremely dry and the cocktail of Neuma Moisture shampoo and conditioner plus kitoko oil, plus only doing gloss to cover my gray was the road back from a color-treated frizzy mess.

I wash my hair every day-mostly because I just like fresh hair, and contrary to others, my hair is not better on the second day. So, when contemplating something new, Lincoln’s staff told me the volume formula works very well and still gives moisture.

As some people know I’m Janey come-lately, and I tried flat-ironing my hair to get that glossy look, but when honesty is applied, I am way too lazy to take that much time on my hair.

Instead, after blow-drying, I take a couple of shots of the Neuma Illuminating Mist and rake it through my hair.  Because I always have to drive somewhere, I take this time to “set” my hair.

Then my secret to non-frizzy hair, which won’t work for people who like a really polished look, but is great for a slight controlled beachy wave, is to first twist my hair, then use a scrunchy or hair rubber band and make a low bun.

It actually looks chic, with a low side part, but if I am going to an appointment, as I drive up I take out the rubber band and rake my fingers through my hair again.

It’s a lot easier than using a flat-iron and twisting and flipping and all that.

I like it easy-life’s complicated enough.

Shine Bright Like A Saphire-Saphira Shampoo and Conditioner

Or maybe shine bright like a diamond-sorry I’ve been on this streak of getting blog title inspiration from music.

But Saphira Nutritious Shampoo and Mineral Mud mask made my hair seriously silky, felt very clean and smelled exotic in a good way.

Saphira hair products are distributed and sold locally at BOSS Beauty Supply on Nimitz Highway here in Hawaii. Chief Hair Guru Lincoln Whang started bringing these dead-sea mineral based products in to satisfy the demand for natural hair products that avoid paraben and paraffin waxes and other chemicals that aren’t great for your hair.

Huh?

That just means extra stuff.

I don’t know about you, but some conditioners, when I am rinsing them out in the shower, definitely feel like they are leaving a coating on my hair. To note, the Nexxus conditioner and Alba organics Coconut conditioner are guilty of this feeling. I continue to use the Alba product because it smells good and my hair is very silky but my hair doesn’t feel clean very long.

Anyway.

Made in Israel, Saphira products have Moroccan Dead Sea formula plus argan oil and 26 minerals from the Dead Sea.

I’ve never tried Ahava’s hair products, but having used their dead sea mask on sore areas of my body, there is something to those dead sea minerals that tingle when applied.

The Mud Mask can be used on your face too. I’ve used it as a conditioner but have not left it on for the 4-5 minutes as suggested.

Nevertheless my hair is shiny and silky.  The fragrance is a little strong-but not crazy strong.  It reminds me Morocco-little bit like incense, but like flowers.

You have to smell it yourself I guess.

Pert Plus Revisited? Shampoo and Conditioner Together?

I think I was reading Elle or INstyle-just checking out the pages and saw this “tip”. Maybe it was More (old fart) magazine-yes, that makes more sense, because when you are getting older you have less time in general so you’d probably want to save some time during the grooming process.

The shower pressure at H club is unbelievably low.  Only 2 shower stalls have decent shower heads so I can rinse my Japanee thick wire hair in an expeditious manner.  The other showers are dismal. Once I mentioned it to my hair and she said, “rinse longer”.

Seriously, the last thing I want to do is stand in a shower at H club any longer than necessary.

Sooooooo

The tip was to shampoo your roots and condition your ends at the same time.

Yes, you read that right.

Like the same as Pert Plus where you just shampooed and conditioned in one application and more importantly-one rinse cycle.

So I tried it one day. I think I was using Nexxus light moisture shampoo and Neuma conditioner on the ends.

Felt ok, but strange to be sudsy and moist at the same time.

My hair performed ok that day, though I wondered if my roots wanted a little conditioning.

So, yesterday at the trade show, I asked local hair expert Lincoln Wang of BOSS Beauty Supply-and he said-no, it didn’t make sense to combine the steps, because shampoo opens the cuticle, and conditioner closes it.

Sort of leaves your hair confused.

Life is confusing enough.

So, H club, please increase the shower pressure in the name of quick grooming and non-confused hair everywhere?!

Revivogen Revival

Well….he’s been at it since February this year and by it I mean using Revivogen’s hair growth system

And guess what?

It’s working.

He’s sprouting a significant amount of hair in the front/top of his head. Not as much as when blew it dry in the 80-s but definitely more

Less scalp showing through.

The system basically cleans your scalp with a minty shampoo and you spray on the treatment which was created by a dermatologist. It has b6, saw palmetto and other nature based ingredients which stimulate growth.

Lincoln W over at Boss beauty supply has the kit in regular and travel sizes.

I guess this means the bf will be using less gel and more shampoo!
