I think I do a pretty good job at taking care of my skin in terms of keeping it moisturized and protected.
But when it comes to heavy lifting exfoliation, or white heads a little under the skin, or blackheads on my nose, I defer to an expert. I try to never pick at my skin for any reason to avoid scars or pigmentation from trying to do something myself which results in redness, a scab and then a dark area that takes a looooooooonnnnnngggggg time to fade.
I only recently sought help from an expert for the above and had gotten an e-offer from Mrs. Oba of Facial Spa Hawaii. I went a few years ago, and felt wonderfully refreshed etc but I consider facials a treat and not a necessity.
I had gotten a referral from two of my friends so I figured she must be good. Her name is Miharu, but I think one friend has been going to her for so long, she is called Mrs Oba, her honorific title.
And she deserves it!
The first time I went I got the CO2 Firming and Tightening facial-an oxygenated supercharged treat. I went specifically because I had a whitehead on my forehead, and it didn’t look like it would budge. Mrs Oba cleaned me up, treating the area with some electro charge thing and it healed without a scar or pigmentation. The masque itself is pretty fun-when she applies it, you can hear the little bubbles popping-it’s like having champagne applied to your face in the form of a bubbling gel.
Yesterday I went and tried the Resurgence Renewal Facial – 70 minutes for $89. This facial is specifically for post-meno skin that is not producing elasticity-enhancing collagen. It starts off as normal – cleaning, steaming, then a thick-gel masque is applied for 10 minutes or so. Mrs. O also applied a new blackhead deep cleanse masque on my nose too. My nose is cleaner than ever!
Their website leaves much to be desired in terms of complete info about the facials, but they do have a paper brochure. They are located on the ground floor of the pancake house building on Kapiolani Ave. near Side Street Inn.
Enjoy!
